  1. Great advice here Jani. You are so right on this. I would also like to say keep receipts on EVERYTHING that you purchase or spend money on related to your creative venture, because in most cases you can claim this as a tax detectable expense.
    AS I really hate doing the finances I hire an accountant once a year for about £200 to help with tax return. It’s worth every penny as I have saved a lot on expenses, plus that £200 would have just been money paid in tax anyway (the accountant fee is tax deductable), so I would advise self employed artists. solo-preneurs to consider hiring accountant/book-keeper. In my experience It’s an expense that definitely pays for itself!

  2. A good point – unless you actively enjoy the challenge of tax returns (few do!) then hiring somebody who does love doing it and can do it better and quicker is very wise 🙂
