If you think you’ve no right to be sad because other people are sadder.

Belittling your emotions by saying ‘other people are worse off than me’ is a numbing / avoidance technique.

Think about it.

Competitive suffering is not a Thing.
If you feel grief, distress, fear, sadness then you feel it.

Don’t try to bargain your way out of your feelings. This is your one beautiful precious life and pain is a part of the experience.  Own that.

All the time you spend telling yourself you should feel some more acceptable ‘positive’ emotion is time you spend not moving on and taking the yummy lessons and growth from your pain.

Lean right in. Feel it.

Pass through it to joy again.

”Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”

Kahlil Gibran
