On ‘outrageously expensive’ artworks

When you get caught up in outrage about the price tag of a piece of art, you lose your ability to enjoy the piece itself.

As most Art with a huge price tag is interesting and idea-changing (even if it doesn’t please you aesthetically) that ability to delight in it is a terribly sad thing to lose.

Chill out. Open your heart and mind.

The Art market is what it is – trading one-off commodities for increasing returns. Debate that if you like (it’s a fun subject to debate) but don’t bring individual artist’s work into it.

Just enjoy the work! Forget the price tag!
PS – as an artist, you should be pleased that the thing you do is valued financially.  That’s a good thing.

It's easier to get to where you want to go, if you know where you are!
